You don't have to wait for things to get worse.

You can start with a conversation.

Let's answer a few questions about Mental Health Therapy....

1. How do I know if I need mental health therapy?

Therapy Session Discussion

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If anxiety, stress, depression, relationships, past experiences, or other concerns are affecting how you think, feel, or function, therapy may be worth exploring. Sometimes you simply know that something isn't working anymore. That can be enough reason to reach out.

2. What can I talk about in individual therapy?

Therapy Session

You can talk about whatever is getting in the way of living the life you want. That might include anxiety, depression, relationships, stress, life transitions, trauma, substance use, emotional patterns, or simply feeling stuck. You don't have to arrive with everything figured out. Therapy gives you a place to slow things down, make sense of what's happening, and decide what you want to change.

3. Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?

Childhood Psychology

No. You don't need a mental health diagnosis to start therapy. Many people seek counseling because they're struggling with something in their lives but aren't sure whether it fits a particular diagnosis. Therapy can begin with understanding what you're experiencing, what may be contributing to it, and what you want to be different.

4. Why won't my mind give me a break?

Drinking Outside

Sometimes your mind gets stuck in patterns of worry, overthinking, intrusive thoughts, or constantly trying to anticipate what could go wrong. Other times, stress, anxiety, trauma, or unresolved emotions may keep your brain on high alert. Therapy can help you understand these patterns and develop healthier ways to respond when your mind won't slow down.

5. What happens during the first therapy session?

Therapy Session Discussion

The first session is an opportunity to talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what's been happening in your life, and what you'd like to be different. Andrew will also learn more about your history, current circumstances, and goals. You don't need to have the perfect explanation or know exactly where to begin. That's part of what therapy is fo

6. Is mental health therapy confidential?
