Andrew G. Pierce, MCAP - Licensed in FL, MN, UT, LA and OH

If you are one of the many who are skeptical about the spiritual aspects of recovery, then you are in good company.
For many skeptics, the leap of faith required to fully participate in 12-Step programs simply exceeds their athletic ability, and for many valid reasons.
In this book, Andrew Pierce, MCAP, unpacks his innovative clinical model - a solution that replaces the judgmentalism inherent to many religions with hard science, fusing quantum field theory with ancient Eastern philosophy. His unique change model converts what was a difficult leap of faith into something more closely resembling a foregone conclusion.
The book contains live links to over 40 supporting multimedia sources, enabling you to gain in-depth understanding of the principles necessary to make radical, fundamental change at a remarkable rate.
This cutting-edge work resolves three of the most common barriers to addiction recovery: spiritual contempt, fear of authenticity, and lack of belief in our ability to change.
Resolving Spiritual Skepticism in Recovery will enhance your recovery by leaps and bounds, and profoundly change your reality.
Book Reviews -
"I find [the book] to be fantastic in content and scope. It also threads a marvelous sense of humor through some of the most intellectually dense material in all of academia.
The ongoing material and relevance summaries at the end of each chapter are great in moving from subject to subject.
The conclusions and summary arrive at profound insights into recovery, spirituality, and life.
Great work, and just...amazing!"

Science Meets Spirituality: A Path to Recovery
Wow! For years, I read and searched for books that could reconcile my intellect with spirituality, some came closer than others, but I continued to have doubts and questions, still uneasy with spirituality, unwilling to set aside my intellect and "act as if" I were a spiritual person--asked by many to suspend my questions and "just believe." This book changed all of that! Unlike all the other writers, Mr. Pierce illuminated a way not only to integrate science and spirituality, but also a path to practice and follow. This book changed everything for me.

Understanding addicts and yourself.
Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2021
I hope that everyone who has ever known an addict reads Spiritual Skepticism. I think this book is very helpful for anyone who is trying to understand their relative, their friend, spouse, colleague, or employee who is an addict. Addiction is so complicated, but reading this book helps to follow the threads of the tapestry that make up an addict to get a clearer picture.
Additionally, the book made me aware of how I unintentionally added to the hurt and shame of people that I knew along the way who were/are addicts, mostly because of my frustration of dealing with them.
The many steps that an addict needs to go through toward recovery are steps that thinking, non-addictive people could also take to find themselves, recognize themselves for who they are, and perhaps be happier and easier to love.
I bought three books and need more. I have already given two away, one to a friend whose nephew has been on heroin. He was found unconscious by his two little girls and was ‘brought back’ by shots. He has lost his wife and his job, can’t see his children unless supervised, but he does not think he has a problem. I am confident that this book will be helpful to his family.

This author makes a difficult theme approachable
Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2021
I don’t write book reviews. Not as a policy, but more because I don’t think my opinion on “most” books would be interesting. However in this case, I am making an exception. One of my children suffers from or has been burdened with the disease of addiction as well as mental health issues. Because of that, I search out any information I possibly can to help educate myself.
This book was a breakthrough! Mr. Pierce took some risks and exposed some real truths. But most of all, he made a subject that has always been difficult for me to understand, approachable. I believe it’s a book for the professionals as well as the layman. I’ve recommended it to other family members as well as many friends. Well done! (And thank you)

An Important Work

This approach to addiction is a revelation and helps the reader take control of their own recovery through truths that are inherent in everyone. It's a thinking person's guide to recovery -- but not just recovery from addiction. It helps the individual reconnect with what makes them happy and gives them a fresh perspective to go out and manage recovery and manage a new lease on life. Highly recommended.

Something bigger than myself
Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2026
I am a mental health therapist and was 1 year into my own recovery when I met this writer at a class in Tucson . I took it back to a friend that was just returning to recovery and it blew her mind too. The author provides fact-based links to back up his findings all along the way. Thank you Andrew, this had kept me spiritually sober and helped me find something bigger than myself. I share this with friends that are sober curious as honestly, I could not get and stay sober on my own.

This is the most informative and relatable book on spirituality and recovery I’ve ever read! The author is real and authentic, and It felt more like a conversation than a monologue.
In addition to the wealth of information in the book, the author also provides links to other multi-media sources of information online; including YouTube videos of cutting edge thinkers, doctors, and spiritual leaders. This opened me up to a whole new world I never knew existed and already has majorly enhanced my life in a positive way. No doubt about it, this book will be saving many lives. Resolving Spiritual Skepticism in Recovery will help anyone in life not just people struggling with addiction!

Finally a book about recovery that I felt spoke directly to me...and I’ve read a lot of them. If you currently struggle with addiction, are in recovery, want to understand a loved one in active addiction or recovery...this is the book you want to read. I really appreciate how the author recognizes that recovery is not a one size fits all and gives you a set of tools that are actually applicable to REAL life. The input of his own experiences made this an easy read and very relatable. Thank you!!!
